Plans

Aufmasstool has four tiers that build on one another: each contains everything from the one below it. This chapter says which function is available from which tier upwards, how you get a plan and what happens when it ends.

The ladder

Free › Basic › Pro › Team

There are no side branches and no add-on packages.

Tier What it stands for What it adds
Free Capture Creating buildings with stairwells, floors, units, rooms and items · every shape · measuring by hand, building parts included · over-measurement rule per project · measurement history · backup as a file · photo documentation on the device: attaching and viewing photos, videos and audio recordings
Basic Laser and all exports Laser distance meter over Bluetooth · summary as PDF and Excel, sharing included · all the remaining exports, such as “Custom PDF …”, “Item measurement sheet”, Excel, CSV, JSON, XML, ODS, DXF and SVG · issuing the photo documentation as PDF or ZIP
Pro Bill — camera included Reading in a bill of quantities (GAEB, Excel, CSV) and comparing planned against actual per item · REB measurement sheet in the PDF · submitting and reading in GAEB X31 and REB DA11 · prices per item, measurement sheets, quotation and invoice, XRechnung · camera and AR measuring, room scan · synchronisation of your own devices through the cloud · reading a whole project out to a file and back in · a team of your own · read-only sharing: inviting members who only read and sharing projects with them
Team Work together Several people writing in one team · inviting writing members and giving roles · a further team of your own · “Interfaces (keys and webhooks)” · “Request a new device”

The billing of a building opens on every plan; inside it, prices, measurement sheets, new quotations and invoices and the submission require Pro.

Earlier plans: anyone who still has the former Standard plan now gets Pro — it contains everything Standard did. A former Cloud plan counts as Team.

On teams: Team is priced per person. Reading is free: anyone invited to a team with the role “Read-only” needs no plan; a Free account is enough. Anyone who edits data in the team needs a Team licence of their own — a Team plan of their own or an unlock by the operator, or a Team licence that a company has bought in the browser and assigned to them (section “Team licences for employees”). This applies to the owner too. Pro is enough for uploading only as long as you are the only one in the team who writes. Without the licence you still become a member. Uploading then pauses with a visible reason if your own plan is below Pro, or as soon as the operator switches on the plan check on the server (chapter “Working together”).

Creating, switching and joining teams: the first team of your own is available from Pro, even if you are already a member of other people’s teams. Anyone who already owns a team needs the Team plan for every further team of their own; the app checks your own plan, and on the server the same limit applies as soon as the operator switches on the plan check. Switching team and joining with an invite code work on every plan (chapter “Working together”).

What works on every plan

The Free plan too requires an account, even without the internet: the plan, the team and the cloud hang on it.

Prices

The Free plan costs 0 €. The prices of the remaining tiers are shown on each card in the app’s plan overview, monthly or yearly; this handbook deliberately does not carry them. Team is charged per person who edits data in the team; anyone who only reads pays nothing. What counts is solely the plan shown on the profile page.

The plan overview in the app

The plan overview carries the heading “Unlock Aufmasstool”. It opens via “View plans” on the profile page or when you tap a locked function; the tier needed is then marked “Needed for this”. It also has the switch “Monthly” / “Yearly”, the band “Recommended” on Pro and the mark “Current plan” on your own tier. As long as the cards do not show the prices from the store, “Total prices incl. VAT.” appears below them.

Locked functions are marked in different ways: format cards in the export carry a padlock, measuring methods and “Export project as a file” the sentence “Unlock with the … plan.”. Other buttons, such as “Import BoQ (GAEB)”, “Prices” or the laser button, look unchanged and only open the plan overview when tapped. Without Pro, “Invite member” in the cloud part of the profile page opens the plan overview; writing roles that your own plan does not cover are greyed out in the sheet with “Writing roles are available from the Team plan.” (chapter “Working together”). Without Team, “Request a new device” is missing altogether.

Getting a plan

A plan can also be unlocked by the operator, including for a limited period.

A purchase through the App Store or Google Play takes effect immediately on the device it was made on; when a purchase in the browser takes effect is explained in the section “Buying in the browser”. Otherwise the app queries the plan at start-up and after every sign-in: an unlock takes effect after restarting the app or after the next sign-in. Without a connection the last known plan continues to apply, but not indefinitely: if the server has not confirmed it for more than 14 days, Free applies from the next start, and a note about it appears in the “Plan” section of the profile page and in the plan overview. A subscription from the App Store is exempt: it continues to apply as long as the App Store reports it as running on the device. Once the server confirms the plan again — at the next start with a connection or after the next sign-in — it applies again immediately; if the connection returns while the app is running, that takes a restart of the app or a new sign-in. The period is 14 days unless the operator sets a different one.

Buying in the browser

The operator enables this purchase channel. Until that has happened, the cards in the browser carry “Purchase available soon”, and the following steps do not exist.

  1. In the plan overview choose “Monthly” or “Yearly” and tap “Choose” on the card of the plan you want.
  2. The “Order summary” opens: plan, term, total price with the note “Total price incl. VAT” — or, for a provider who charges no VAT under § 19 UStG, “Total price. No VAT is charged under § 19 UStG.”; the cards in the browser then show “Total prices. No VAT is charged under § 19 UStG.” —, a sentence on renewal and cancellation, and the links “Terms of use” and “Right of withdrawal”.
  3. Below are two checkboxes, both of which start empty: “I expressly request that the service begins before the withdrawal period ends.” and “I am aware that I lose my right of withdrawal once the service begins.” Only with both ticked can you tap “order with obligation to pay”.
  4. The browser switches to the payment page of the payment service provider Stripe; you pay there.
  5. Afterwards it returns to the profile page. After an order it shows “Thank you for your order”: the plan applies as soon as Stripe confirms the purchase. While the profile page is open, the app checks several times over half a minute; if the plan still does not appear, reload the page later. Whoever leaves the payment page via its back link sees “Order cancelled” — nothing was ordered and nothing was charged.

The subscription initially runs for the chosen term. If it is not cancelled by the end of that term, it continues monthly at the plan’s monthly price and can then be cancelled at any time with one month’s notice. If a subscription from the browser already runs for the account, the other cards show “Switch” instead of a second order (see “Changing plan”); a cancelled subscription is first resumed under “Manage subscription”. If one runs through the App Store or Google Play, a second one in the browser is not possible.

A subscription from the browser is managed in the browser: the “Plan” section of the profile page then shows “Managed on the web”, and “Manage subscription” opens the Stripe customer portal. There the subscription can be cancelled as of the end of the term. On iPhone, iPad and Android such a subscription only shows “Managed on the web”, without a button.

Changing plan

A subscription from the browser can be changed in the browser to another plan or another term: in the plan overview choose another plan, or switch the term with “Monthly” / “Yearly”. What happens next depends on the direction; the plan counts before the term.

Upwards — to a higher plan (Basic › Pro › Team), whatever the term, or within the same plan from monthly to yearly:

  1. A summary of the change opens with the amount due immediately and the price that runs from then on. The unused part of the period already paid is credited pro rata; if it is larger than the amount due immediately, the rest is set off against the next invoices. Nothing is paid out.
  2. Below are the same two checkboxes as for a purchase. Only with both ticked can you tap “change with obligation to pay”.
  3. The new plan applies as soon as the amount due now has been paid — usually at once. If the bank still asks for confirmation, the invoice’s payment page opens; without payment within 23 hours the previous plan remains. A confirmation arrives by email. If the term changes, a new billing period begins with the change; if it stays the same, the billing date stays the same.

Downwards — to a lower plan, whatever the term. Within the same plan from yearly to monthly no change is needed: a yearly subscription continues monthly after its year anyway.

  1. The summary offers “Schedule change”. The change only takes effect at the end of the paid period; until then the previous plan remains, and nothing is refunded.
  2. The “Plan” section of the profile page then shows “From …: …” with the date and the future plan, next to it “Undo change”. Until that date the scheduled change can be undone with it; a change upwards also replaces it.

A paid subscription from the browser always appears in the “Plan” section of the profile page, even when an unlock, the trial or an assigned Team licence currently gives a higher plan.

A subscription from the App Store or Google Play cannot be changed here; the routes of the respective store apply to it.

Trial in the browser

In the browser, the “Plan” section of the profile page and the plan overview carry the “Try Pro free for 14 days” button, with “Once per account, no payment details. The trial ends on its own; afterwards your previous plan applies again.” below it. It only appears if the app knows the plan from the server, the account is below Pro and no trial has ever been started for this account. Trying it out requires signing in.

After the start, Pro applies, the app states “Your trial runs until …”, and the button disappears. A second attempt with the same account ends with “The trial has already been used for this account.”

In the last five days, the “Plan” section and the plan overview show the days left and the end, for example “Trial: 3 days left, ends on …”, on the last day “Trial: last day, ends on …”. Once per device a note appears when these last days begin, and one after the end that names the end date and the plan: “Your account is now on the … plan.” From then on the plan the account has without the trial applies again — without a subscription or unlock, that is Free; nothing is deleted (section “When a plan ends”).

Redeeming a voucher

A voucher code is redeemed in the browser, not in the apps for iPhone, iPad and Android:

  1. Open the profile page and tap “Redeem voucher” in the “Plan” section.
  2. Enter the code in the “Voucher code” field and tap “Redeem”.
  3. “Voucher redeemed” then reports the plan and, for a limited term, until when it applies — for example “Pro is unlocked until …”.

The plan applies from redemption for the term of the voucher; the profile page then shows “Source: voucher”. Each account can redeem a voucher only once. If it does not work, the reason appears below the field and your entry stays: the code does not exist (check the spelling), it has already been redeemed with this account, it is used up or it can no longer be redeemed. After ten attempts within one hour the message is “Too many attempts. Please try again later.”

Cancelling a subscription from the browser

For a subscription taken out in the browser there are two ways:

The form asks for “Name”, “Email address” (the confirmation goes there), “Contract (optional)”, “Type of cancellation” — ordinary or extraordinary, the latter with “Reason for the extraordinary cancellation” — and “Timing”: “at the earliest possible date” or “on a specific date”. With “cancel now” the cancellation is submitted. The page then shows “Your cancellation has been received” with the content of your declaration, the date and time of receipt, and “Print/Save”; a confirmation also arrives by email. If the email could not be sent, the page says so — then print or save the page.

What happens next:

A subscription from the App Store or Google Play is cancelled there, in the store’s subscription management, not this way.

Team licences for employees

A company can buy Team licences for its employees — only in the browser, as a subscription with a quantity. Each licence costs as much as the Team plan for one person; there is no volume discount. An assigned licence works for the account like a Team plan of its own, in every team the account belongs to. For the buyer, a licence only applies once they assign it to themselves.

In the browser, the “Plan” section of the profile page shows the area “Team licences for employees” as soon as the operator has enabled buying in the browser, or the account has bought licences or been assigned one: how many licences are paid for, assigned and free, and for each licence who holds it.

If fewer licences are paid for than assigned — for example after reducing the quantity or when a payment is missing — the most recently assigned ones are suspended until enough are paid for again. Whoever holds a suspended licence loses no data; if this leaves them without a Team licence, uploading to a team pauses until it applies again.

When a plan ends

Nothing is deleted. Functions of the higher tier carry their lock again; once a time-limited unlock has run out, the plan that still exists applies from the next start, otherwise Free.

What a plan does not change

Some limits are set by the device: in the browser there is no AR measuring on any plan — the photo reference works there via the file dialogue —, the laser distance meter only in Chrome, Edge and Opera, and the browser records audio and video only where it supports the MP4 format (chapters “Measuring” and “Photo documentation”). The data there is kept in the browser’s storage; if the browser provides none, for example in a private window, it is gone after a reload, and the start page warns with “Not stored permanently”.

Where your own plan is shown

On the profile page — via the person icon at the top right of the start page or the “Profile” card at the very top of Settings, which already shows it in short form, for example “Registered · Pro”. On the profile page it appears next to the name and in the “Plan” section, below it “View plans”, in the browser “Redeem voucher” and “Cancel contracts here”, in the app “Restore purchases”.

As soon as the app knows the plan from the server, the “Plan” section also shows, where the server provides it, where the plan comes from (for example “Source: subscription”, “Source: unlock”, “Source: voucher” or “Source: assigned Team licence”), until when it runs or when it ends, and where it is managed. For a subscription from the App Store, “Manage subscription” on iPhone and iPad leads to the App Store’s subscription management, and for a subscription from Google Play on Android to that of Google Play; for a subscription from the browser it leads, in the browser, to the customer portal.
